For a few years now I have been wanting to join the CAF in the infantry. It has come to my time in which my decisions has been made and I am ready to enlist, however. I am still attending high school (grade 12) and have been horrible at exams but acing schoolwork. I am to the point in which I may only be able to pass high school with 1 diplomas (English). This question has been weighing on my mind for a while now.

If I don't pass high school I am looking at taking a break from school, enlisting and then going back again for my diplomas and graduating. Would I still be able to join the forces in infantry if I haven't graduated/am not currently attending school but have intentions of going back in after I get my life started?

I currently live just outside of Edmonton Alberta.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated!  (P.S.) I am sorry if there already was a topic about this, I could not seem to find it anywheres

Good Morning,

If you're wanting to join the Regular Force the following are the entry standards for Infantryman (0010):
Ideal: High school diploma or equivalent secondary school education
Acceptable: Gr. 10 high school, secondary IV in Québec or equivalent secondary school education

Please remember that these are the minimum entry standards, it does not guarentee you entry into the Canadian Armed Forces as the selection process is competitive and those with the highest scores (Interview, CFAT, etc) are given offers first.

Cheers,
Sgt Laen
