I want the opinion of anyone that cares to share it.  I was just told that I don't meet the criteria for infantry this year because the standards are so high.  Apparently I have a few variables working against me.  I could spend this year upgrading credits, getting into better shape, doing volunteer work, etc. to try and have a stronger application next year.  I haven't ruled that option out.  However, I'm 27 years old already, and there are no gaurantees for next year either.

I heard that Canadians can apply to join the US Armed Forces.  What are your thoughts on this?  I have to admit I'm a little bitter about not getting a fitness test, medical, or even an interview.  I feel like more significance is being put on who I was in high school instead of who I am today.  I know I'm not getting any younger either.

Anyways, what are your thoughts? If I could join the Canadian Forces I would but since I can't should I wait and take my chances next year or should I apply with the US?

In my opinion, you could face roadblocks getting in the US Army as well.  Unless you already have a green card, I don't think you can apply.

I would like to think that people join the Canadian Forces to fight for THEIR country.  Sure, the States and Canada are allies, but its not quite the same thing.  Myself personally, I think you should stay with the Canadian Forces, but if you really want to jump to a foreign military, try the British Army or British Royal Marines.

This may help:

Lots on posts discussing joining foreign militaries already on site.

Locked usual caveats.
