We are looking for WW II veteran Charles Swan and/ or his family. A couple of friends and I have met him in may 2000 in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, after the Parade of Canadian veterans. He then asked us to put flowers on the grave of Captain John Morris Jewell, Groesbeek War Cemetery, The Netherlands, Grave/ Memorial reference 14 D. Since then, we have been doing this at least every year around the 3rd of March, the day that Captain Jewell fell in 1945 near the "Hochwald", Germany, as we learned from the book "Warpath, the story of the Algonquin regiment 1939 - 1945". We will continue to do this and, hopefully, will pass it on to our children one day.
We have tried to contact Charles Swan by registered mail on his former address in InnisFail, Alberta, but got notified that he had moved. To facilitate the search, I have looked him up in the book "Warpath, the story of the Algonquin regiment 1939 - 1945, where I found him on the nominal roll as Major C.F. Swan, T.O.S. 29/4/44, S.O.S. 24/6/45. We would very much like to get back in touch with Charles Swan and his family. Further, we would be very glad with any information we can get about Captain John Morris Jewell, nominal roll T.O.S. 4/4/43, S.O.S. 3/3/45. We would also like Captain Jewell's family to know what is going on and if they would appreciate that, get in touch with them.
We enjoy our freedom every day!
Thanks Canada!!
