Could someone please give me some general info on the Reserves the Canadian Army offers. Things like how often? what is required? etc...

Maybe we should start developing a FAQ...what reserve units are where, things to expect in basic training, tips and tricks, on-line contacts (sites) for recruiting, the sorts of jobs done by various trades, etc.

Personally, I‘m inclined not to mollycoddle potential recruits - after all, I‘d like to think they could demonstrate some initiative on their own (also, please keep in mind that I‘ve spent more years in recruiting than some junior members have spent in the Army ...).

Besides, how difficult is it to find out recruiting info via the Internet?

All one has to do is visit www.dnd.ca
Click on Recruiting, and you‘re directed to http://www.recruiting.dnd.ca/main_frame.html

But, that‘s just my personal, grumpy, observation ...

its not hard to find information on recruiting.
but to learning about the expierance from the people IN the CF.
chances are,
almost all of the people will tell you,
‘it was the best and the worst time of my life.‘
ask around.

I CANT SPELL NOR DO I HAVE ANY GRAMATICAL ABILITY!!!
ARGG!!
SORRY!

What i ‘ment‘ to say was
"but learning about the expierance from people IN the CF isnt difficult.just ask."

If you have been listning to the radio, there is a new advertising campaign starting up and you can go to www.dnd.ca and find out all the wonderfull things CFRC (Canadian Forces Recruiting) can do for (to) you or you can do the smart thing and go down to your nearest armour and ask and observe.

You got that right. They create more hassles for people joining the reserves then they are worth. That could be a whole new topic and I‘d bet there is enough commentary and horror stories to keep it going.

Most recruiters aren‘t that bad, as I understand it some of them are just there because there recovering from an injury or like resting or something ( I know one guy got shot by a recuit - by mistake, in the knee, and he is recruiting to let it rest, and this guy is like, freak‘in huge, he‘s from PPCLI and i believe just got transferred to another job when he was promoted to warrant)

right now there doing my backround check (just about 2 weeks now !!)

The thing i don‘t paticularly like about the recruiting, is that they come to my highschool and try to snag you into becoming an officer.. well that‘s all good and fine, except for the fact the CF as an officer bloat right now.

hey Mud, good luck on your Aptitude Test, the interview is good, they‘ll ask you why you want to join PPCLI so much probably.

Steve - here is some stuff

1 day a week (like thursday night 7-10 pm)
1 weekend a month (weekend exersize will probably emphasize on shooting, - at eachother with blanks)
1 week a year (spring break)

Just pass the aptitude test, interview, physical and PT test

PT Test - 19 pushups 19 situps and step test

What does the step test consist of ? as well as the interview and apptitude portion....any possible info would be greatly appreciated.
