The Mamba is a route proving vehicle used in mined areas.
The bottoms full of steel and sometimes water, the side
bins and wheel are flimsily bolted on so they can be blown
off in a mine strike. Thick bullet proof style windows.
Open top so that gases and people can escape from the top.
Not really open, little doors on roof. The suspension
is really soft so don‘t corner too fast in it. Yeah it
looks cool but do you really want to be the guy driving
down some dirt road in Bosnia declaring it a "High Confidence"
route so that other commanders can feel good about sending
a combat loaded Bison down that route? I doesn‘t detect mines,
it only runs over the surface ones, blows apart and hopefully
everybody walks away. Chances are better in the Mamba
than the m113 for survival though.
