I got this email chain spammed to me. I thought others might appreciate it. THe text with it is as follows:
Some great skills displayed here
If you don't think  military pilots earn their pay ... You need to take a look at this picture ... And then look again and realize what you're seeing ...
This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helo rescue mission. The pilot is a Pennsylvania Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life. Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the ass end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear??? If this does not impress you ... Nothing ever will. Gives me the chills and a serious case of the vertigo ... I can't even imagine having the nerve ... Much less the talent and ability ... God Bless the military!!!!!

Seen before.  When was the last time you saw "wounded" men in hand cuffs?
Check the link.

regardless of that its prisoners or wounded, its still a hell of a landing and cool photo.

The pilot here is only as good as the Flight Engineer on the tail telling him how far from obstacle the rear is.  I'd say, Darn good F.E. Skills!!!!!

  :salute:

I knew it all along...those darned pilots are just bus drivers!
All kidding aside...in every endeavor in this outfit it's about team work. That is drilled into us from Basic on and it is so true.  ;)

Somewhere out in cyberspace there's a picture of one of my aviation company's Chinooks doing the same thing, only it was a CH-47A with its butt squatted on a small pad atop Nui Ba Den mountain, circa 1967-68.

I'll see if I can find it.

With those updrafts wafting by, that must have been fun

Different shot of the same situation.

These guys are from Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. We almost had them for 31 CBG's Ex Maple Lightning this past March and Vigilant Guardian.

Every time I have a US Army/Guard Aviation unit interested in participating in an ex, they get sent off to do their job for real somewhere else though.
