I'm currently working on a 3 part documentary with the 'Friends of Haida' for distribution to schools country wide.

My current request is if you have a personal collection of higher rez CANADIAN ww2 photo's (Mostly focused upon the Naval side of things...) that you could forward them to me. I know this is a rather broad request but I desperately need to broaden my collection of wartime photographs to prevent repetition as much as possible.

If you are able to provide any please shoot me a PM as soon as possible.

Have you tried the National Archive?  or your local "stone frigatte"?

Can you direct me to pages/contacts for the National Archive?

The 'Friends of Haida' program is directly tied with the HMCS Star (our local 'Stone Frigate' in Hamilton) and they have provided all the visual media that they can.

We have already obtained permissions from varied documentaries for usage of some of their visual media due to this being a non profit educational documentary. But sadly it is just not enough in terms of stills

So?  Are you making a list of places you can try and contact for informantion?

Shall we start one for you?

People can all add to this one:

POSSIBLE SOURCES:

1.    National Archives

2.    National Film Board of Canada

3.    Royal Canadian Legion

4.    Canadian Museum of Civilization (Canadian War Museum)

5.    HMCS Haida Naval Reserve

6.

No, not for information. This is strictly a hunt for still images.

The whole set of documentaries is scripted out and written by Veterans of the War itself. So information is not a requirement here.

6. How about DND itself?

Don't think that Combat Camera goes back that far
and far as I can tell, National war museum, archives and NFB would be the benefactors of anything the military might have produced in the past.

Although they do not go that far back, they still have a Photo Archive that does (if it hasn't been tended to and processed through to the National Archives).

... which is what I was thinking / explaining ;)
War Museum and National Archives would be my best guess for it's location.

Thanks folks!

In regards to the 'Combat Camera' is (http://www.combatcamera.forces.gc.ca) the right site for me to go to? Or is there a subpage/whole other site for older photos? While trying to hunt down anything via searches I've been able to come up with nothing but modern photos.
