Okay, now I'm back here with another fine question I hope you guys could answer! I was looking up on the forces.gc.ca website on the physical requirements, I double checked everything, I can do everything on there (push ups, sit ups, and the running under 11:59). Now the one question I have is that I'm 6'2 1/2 ft tall and I weight 134lbs and apparently it's in the rezone on that chart. Does this mean that I have to gain weight or what? because I still want to be able to join the Reserves as part of my Co-op.

You only weight 134lbs? at 6'2? Good God, man!

Hey, it's entirely up to you if you want to put on more weight, but in my personal opinion I think it would be a good idea. I'm 6'4 and 194lbs... and I'm no heavyweight... training tore weight off of me faster than oprah can put weight on.

It would definitely be to your benefit to pack on some beef before heading into any program, but I highly doubt you can be forced to get heavier. I trained with a guy who was 145 pounds and about as tall as you and he just didn't have the reserves of energy to spend days digging and running and patrolling and attacking... he got headaches, and stress ate him alive... he passed, but he had a really rough go of it.

my 2 cents, which might be all it's worth.

You basically answered your own question. You can do what is required for you I.E minimum fitness.

Well, I wouldn't say that  ;) but anyways. What else do you guys think? i'm trying to gain weight as I speak and was told to leave the fast food out of it :P

Depends on what you want to hear doom.Yes you seem to be a tall lanky.Do you want someone to tell you your ruck will at times be heavier than you?
That chart is to show a estimate of where you should be.Our army does not use this chart in the recruiting process. It is a throw back to the BMI which was taken out years ago.You will never be officially told your too skinny or be released from the military for being to skinny.

What are you looking for?

*there is no body type analysis in the army.

All your question will attract will be a hardcore private telling you he's humped twice your weight and you better get on the creatine and protein powder.

Doom: Your question about the weight requirement for the res can only be answered by the recruiting office/medical officer and I urge you to have a chat with them.

As far as asking opinions/seeking suggestions on the net about weight gain, if you have concerns get yourself to your primary care physician and have them check you for any pathological reason for either your current weight or what may stop you from gaining etc.  Have them refer you to a dietician so that you can properly set out a weight gain plan that is safe.  But for heaven's sake just don't start experimenting with every weight gain fad out there as there are factors to consider unique to your physiological requirements, age and endocrinology.

As a person who is tall and has had a lifelong struggle to put weight on, I can tell you it is as equal if not sadder than the yoyo dieting some people experience to lose weight.  Weight gain done with the wrong building blocks of nutrition can be deadly and cause poor health in the long term.  Another problem is that weight gained inappropriately won't stay on if your endocrine, and GI systems are revved up.  That's why you need to be assured that all your systems are working properly.  And face it., sometimes genetics play a role that simply means you won't put weight on.  That has to be considered as well in planning a weight gain regime.

No.There is no weight, height, colour, race, discrimination to joining the army.My wife a wopping 5 foot 2, 97 pounds joined the army and looked like a ruck with two stubby legs.

There is NO BMI testing as I have already said.
There is no height requirement (Or I would not be in uniform)

SO theres your answer.

Lock?

Yea, its okay for the lock now. I got what I needed information wise. I'll talk to a recruiter tomorrow most likely as i'm on march break. Might even head down to the office to ask some questions.
