I‘m not sure where to post this..

So I‘m wondering where there are Patrol Blues (?) Available. Someone said my Affiliated unit might have them? If not, does anyone have any pictures of them (they can always be custom made)?

Also, can someone explain how the design would change (if at all) from unit to unit?

Thanks in advance!

Get a copy of the dress instructions, it will break down the design of the uniform, type of headress to be worn, colours of facings etc. For both patrol dress and No.1‘s

The current dress regulations will not help as Patrols are from before Unification. If 11 Svc Bn has them, they would be from the museum holdings.

My first pair of Blues were hand-me-downs (a tradition for subbies)

I eventually bought a set from Beauchamps in Toronto (very expensive)

Kasman‘s used to make them (also pricey)

And, I think there‘s a place in Scarborough owned and operated by a tailor who used to work for Kasman‘s (sorry - too early in the morning - can‘t remember the name of this place - it‘s on the street across from CFTO TV)

Other than that, I‘m not sure if Dominion Regalia or Stokes Cap and Regalia might make them for civvie police forces - much, much, much, much cheaper (did I mention they‘re probably much cheaper if you buy them the sensible way ... ?)

As for patterns ... I‘d have to suggest the Regimental museum is the best place to start (since I‘ve got a hunch you wouldn‘t want to copy mine ... unless you‘re wearing a kilt ... chuckle!)

I‘ll see if I can dig up a photo ...

Despite the fact that the uniforms date back to the "Canadian Army" the uniforms themselved, both patrols and No.1 dress are still on the books in the CF Dress Instructions (at least in 1997, and given the speed at which the CF ubdates Pub‘s it be willing to bet they still are) as uniforms that the Militia can wear provided they are acquired at no cost to the crown.

My old Regiment (8CH) still has patrols and issues them out on a regular basis.

Now if you lived in Moncton...... ;)

Many reserve armour units still use patrols, though normally it is exlusively officers and senior NCOs who wear them. But I‘ve seen them worn on parade in public a number of times.

Anyone know if regular armour officers can wear patrols at any time these days? Even just for weddings and the like?

As far as I know the 8CH were the only Reg force Reg who regularly wore the patrol dress to functions.

I could be wrong...have anything else to add George?

Regards

All Armour Units wore Patrols at sometime. I know that most Res units wear them now.I have two pairs of patrols. My father‘s and a pair I was given.
