Quick question...am I allowed, as a serving member of the CF, to contact the NDP and tell them what brain dead losers they are?  Or do I have to sit here everyday listening to and watching their right out to lunch antics and accusations. Same goes for the Liberals, but they really don't matter anymore do they?

Like I said, just a question, but I would really love to tell them to shut the f%#k up sometimes.

I would think that as long as you don't identify yourself as a CF member while telling the to STFU, you should be fine.

Kiwi: there are smarter people than I, people with more current knowledge, who I hope will advise you, but, as far as I know, nothing prevents you, as a CF member, from writing, respectfully, of course, to a MP or a Party leader, telling them that you are a CF member and, respectfully again, telling them that you disagree with their policy proposals. But, BIG BUT you may not speak for the CF: your not qualified to do that nor is it your job. You may speak for yourself and yourself only, not your platoon or company or any other CF organization.

Even when we disagree with them, I think we have to acknowledge that all MP, of all parties have earned the right to be addressed in a serious and respectful manner. If we want to shout at them and call them idiots then we, too, should stand for election.

I did - my MP at the time was NDP and I let her have it over some bs the local party tards were doing and saying...of course she backed their lunacy to the end, despite me pointing out she and her party faithful hadn't a schmick what they were talking about.  I also self identified, and ZERO repercussions.  It's all in how you do it - just don't call them f*&ktards or words to that effect and you should be fine...get rude or derogatory, you might be in for an earful from the CoC later.

All good advice.  However, I refuse to respect an opposition that does no more than whine about petty matters when there are so many bigger things at stake in this great country of ours.  MPs who were only months ago working in bars or were students have no idea what is good for this country.  being an MP does not mean you have my respect automatically, being an MP means you have to prove yourself to earn it.  And that means governing or placing the interests of Canada first, above and beyond party politics and party partisanship.  That is something that many MPs do not realize yet, that they are here to serve the people of Canada, not the other way around.

But the MP's don't think that....the occasional one does, initially, but essentially they convinced enough people to give the a well paying job for 4 years.....the first order of the day after the election is to work towards convincing the same people to give them an addition 4 years once these are finished.....

I, when talking about my personal views, either cover up or shed my work shirt.  My business is non affiliated with a religious or political organization and I respect that at all times.

There is a subtle difference between being respectful and giving respect - one is using good manners while you're sticking the dinner fork in their eyes (kinda like the "yes Sir no Sir" we do to people of superior rank) vice thinking long and hard about sticking that same dinner fork in their eyes because they might actually have a point and you'll give them the benefit of the doubt because they've earned that right to an opinion from you (even if it differs).
