Question regarding Medical Standards and application time-line.

Hello all!

I apologize if this has been discussed previously, but I can't seem to find anything in the Search function.

I am planning on applying to the CF in the very near future, however I am also waiting to have Lasik surgery. From my understanding, there is a 6 month wait period afterwards, but I am also seeing that the application process at times takes months, or even years.

What I'm wondering is whether I should just wait to have the surgery done, or if I should start the application process ASAP.

Depends on the trade/occupation you're looking for.  You're likely pretty safe to get the surgery done right away, since hiring is pretty slow going these days and likely won't change until the new fiscal year, at the earliest.

Last I checked, it was only 3 months post surgery with a consult from the ophthalmologist that says your refraction has stabilized and you're side effect free.  Ball's in your court.
