RCMP members and politics

Anyone familiar with the policy regarding participation in political activities by actively serving RCMP members?

For example can they hold office either federally, provincially or municipally? Or as a member of a riding executive?

I don't know for sure but I'm almost certain that as a federal law enforcement agency that officers are not allowed to actively participate in politics while they are serving.  I think it has something to do with the fact that you have to be completely subservient to the elected government and if federal officers were showing support for other political parties than it would cause uncertainty in the public eye.
