Re: JNBCD coy

Hi guys,

Civvie here got a couple questions for you boyo's, any of you that know anything (or know anyone that does), thanks in advance.
(I realize that I could be posting this question in the SF section of this site, but wanted to hear your thoughts first, hope that's ok  )

What do you guys know about the JNBCD coy? I'm assuming that there is no direct entry for civvies ... any thoughts? I'm assuming that they'd hire from the ranks of CF FF's (what with your NBC training), but are there any other MOC's that they'd hire from?

Also, I'm wondering - would hazmat be a good background for someone interested in being part of an outfit like JNBCD one day? Moreover, what kind of background would they be looking for, and could that kind of background be obtained on civvie street?

Theres people there from alot of MOSIDs........not at all just FFs

Must have poorly worded my reply.  It was to back up what Cd Navigator Cdn Aviator said  ;D

There are alot of crewman there as well.

That was something my former CO mentioned that didn't surprise me.  Not sure how many, but I know anyone from Recce would have done CRT/NBC Survey at some point.  What did surprise me was...that they went and did it full time!  ;D

JNBC sounds like excellent training however do they do anything besides train?Have they been deployed?Are they domestic op's only as of now?It appears to me they have not deployed their assets into theatre yet.Is this correct?

The trade you are going into the JNBC really decides what job your doing as well.Won't get into exactly what,but as a firefighter said his main job there would be "ball scrubbing".Armd and Infantry also have specific jobs.I worked with them as a augmenter when they were shaking out to go towards green op's.

Gentlemen, thank you all for your input. From what I understand, because JNBCD coy is part of CANSOFCOM, very little can be said about it, and the last thing i want to do is toe that particular line.
