I've got a question regarding the following picture:

For one, the uniform appears to be British, but is that what country it's from?  Or somewhere else?  That rank appears to be a 2Lt. by our standards?

Second, what is the recruiting poster in the background advertising?  I can see it says "adventurous training" with some pictures but not much more.  There's also the one to the left of it with cross swords and a _________ Corps, but I can't tell which corps.

All help is greatly appreciated :)

After some extensive research, here's what I came up with.

1. The uniform is British, and so are they.

2. They are advertising the University Officers' Training Corps - we don't have anything of the like in Canada, but it's kind of like ROTC in the US, with some differences. "Adventurous Training" was what gave it away - one of the UOTC's main selling points.

3. She's an OCdt. Brit army Officer ranks use combination of diamonds, crowns, and cross-swords, save for OCdt, which is the single stripe. I was tempted to say she might be advertising a University Air Squadron (as the RAF does have striped officer ranks), but the cross swords on the left would incline me to believe that she's army.
