Remustering

Hey everyone. New to this forum so a little about myself. I have been in the RCN since 2004, recently just completed PLQ.

So here is the situation. My wife is a 3rd year student in university and we will be moving to Brandon, Manitoba area in the very near future. My choices were simple...Quit the military and bash on with civvie life, or remuster to the mighty infantry!! Here is the issue at large...I have no bloody idea what to expect!!! I know 100% that all the personnel I am going to be training with on SQ will be green right out of basic and pretty much the same for BIQ. So where do I start? What can I do to get back on edge with basic soldiering? I have not packed a rucksack since basic and really have no clue where the instructors will expect me to be at as to "army training". I realize I will have to rely on my good follower-ship skills and play the game, but as a QL5B/PLQ qualified sailor...What type of time line am I looking at for training? I do realize that I will have to complete the comprehensive field phase required by the Army, but I am also certain the Army will not want to have a "PLQ" leader just sitting in the corner not leading troops for very long....

Any advice, tips quirks would be appreciated!!!! Cheers!!

I hate to tell you this but your PLQ will not count for much if you have remustered to Infantry.  PLQ Infantry is different from PLQ Land (now known as Army PLQ) and if you did not do the Army PLQ which I suspect you did not do, they will probably waive the instructional technique mood but that is it. You will not be doing a BMQ Land (formally known as SQ) as that is part of BIQ.  There have been remusters from other Cbt Arms trades into Infantry and when they were in PAT/PAR they started at the bottom just like any other new infantry recruit.  I had one working for me in stores before his BIQ course started.

I do know that all of the "in house" portions of PLQ will count as it is all the same across the board now as Distance Learning...Fully expected to do the rest of the Army PLQ. What is the new format for training? I am assuming they rolled everything into BIQ instead of having two separate courses? If so what is the time frame as I know BIQ used to be about 17 weeks alone. Also hoping since I am already in that they will throw me on PAT for a short stint to kind of sort myself out, if not it isn't the end of the world really...Will still be completing a cost move to the prairies though so there is always that to look forward too lol
