i was told there will be a reserve unit in mississauga any truth to this and if so when does it start and how do i join

Yes there is , The Toronto Scottish Regiment is. You should check out CFRC Mississuaga by Square One Shopping mall its in 33 City CentreDrive i think im not sure. But yeah there is a reserve unit there looks like its infantry, that what i and pretty much all the recruits applied for.
