So I guess what i am suggesting.....even thought its been said somewhere on the forum that you should run in boots to get used to them....this kind of discourages me....that and well the only time you will be running in boots is when  your in a combat situation....

That looks more like a post surgery photo.  Boots obviously didn't make that cut.  A scalpel did.  Did he break his ankle and need pins or something?

apparently he told me it was compartment syndrome....here's a link.

Wow.  That looks like it sucks.  Hope he caught it in time.  Looks like it wasn't so much the boots, as the extra strain of the PT program, though.

Running in boots does not make your feet look like that without anothermedical condition as an aggravating factor.

I've done a dozen exercises where we ran everywhere, up and down stairs, on roads, in buildings, vehicles, swamps, mountains and everything else.

You might get a few blisters - but I'm with zipperhead - that is a post surgery pic.

From the website;

"A major change in activity level, such as with long distance runners or new military recruits"

This is why the CF tells you, from day one, to be in top physical condition before you join!

Chances are that he would have gotten that condition in running shoes.  The obstacle that boots present to new candidates is that they are usually brand new and cause blisters on the top and bottom of your feet.  Try to break them in as quickly as possible.  Plus, having a Vibrim sole goes a long way towards comfort.  Check out the multiple footwear threads out and about on the site. (No doubt Vibrim is not an option on recruit)
