HMC Ships SUMMERSIDE, GLACE BAY and SHAWINIGAN are tied up alongside HTO park (at the foot of Spadina) in Toronto.  They will be open for public tours on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday from 1300-1600.  If anyone on these boards is interested in a private tour, outside of the times for the public tours, pm me and I will see what I can do.

Cheers,

MARS

Saw them this morning, maybe if I have chance I will come tomorrow to check them out..

came down this afternoon, it was cool to see navy ships, and talk to some of mariners, I was quite surprised how many Reservist were on the board... :cdn:

I think the term you are looking for is "sailors" and of course they will have lots of reservists on them...they are NAVRES ships !

ahh sailors  ;D, I was just thinking about something else .. anyway, it was a good day today talking to them, I took some photos, while on the board.. perhaps I will post it later..

To be completely clear...there is no such thing as a NAVRES ship.  All ships, either east or west coast, belong to their respective Admiral.  That said, MCDV's are predominantly (but not exclusively) crewed by reservists on Class C or A contracts.

There aren't many Class C contracts on MCDVs.  Most of the "full time" crew are on Class B contracts.

Core Crew on the MCDVs are a class C position since 2002. The majority of the 32 positions are core crew, but there are up to a maximum manning of 44 on each ship .
