Well thats all well and good but do they know Canadian law regarding speeding? The U.S. A> is much more decentralized than we are up here...

Slim

I dont know your answer to that, but I do know that the posters on the site are canadian. I look at this from this angle, photo radar and all the other radar scams are all cash cows and you cant deny that. Im helping out my fellow soldiers and friends by posting that link so that they dont get milked by the system.

here is another website which has some intresting items on it. I have the plate on my car and I have not seen a ticket yet

http://www.phantomplate.com/

HaHa.......ya I've seen cops in place in the areas they are describing on this site

Some people will never think like that untill a loved one gets it in a totally preventable car accident though......

Interesting...I saw a car upside down the other day as I was coming to work in one of those areas the website mentions. There were a number of ambulances carting broken people away...Turns out that the accident was a result of speed...

Too bad.

the reason i posted the links was cause i feel that the police service could be better serving the public by stopping crime in the inner city then them sitting in a ford windstar van drinking a hot steamy cup of timmy ho's nailing people doing 60 in a 50 zone. Im sorry if I offend people with the way I think. but i can think of better ways to spend tax payer money.

I will admit there are idiots on the road, but I look at it this way, who is going to be involved in a accident more, a corvette or a firefly.... think about it...

I believe the car involved was a Dodge Neon.

How do I know...I'm a Auxiliary police officer in the Region and spoke to the officer who did the accident investigation. This man who has to go home at night with the image of people all broken up and twisted body parts.

I know that you feel that speed traps are a "cash grab" but, do you suppose that they could exist for other reasons as well...Like to stop you from speeding?!

Grow up

Sorry but I don't know many police officers that'll give you a ticket for going 10km over. As well I find that the best way to not get a ticket is, I don't know, NOT BREAK THE LAW.

And what do you think all the other cops who aren't on traffic are doing? And by the way, traffic is one of the more dangerous jobs for a police officer to do (very easy to get nailed by some nutbar on the highway or shot by some social slime who does not want a ticket).

From what I hear one of the more dangerous Law Enforcement jobs down in the states is the Highway Patrol due to those very reasons. As well many police officers have been shot at while doing traffic enforcement.

im with slim and 2332 Piper on this one...

Speeding is one of the most preventable types of road accidents causing injury and death.

and yes I do speed. but there is a difference between my speeding and yours.
I dont usually go more then 10 over, and i also accept that it is wrong and that if i get caught speeding, its my own fault. I dont blame the police for giving me a ticket.... thats getting caught cheating on a test, and blaming the teacher... slim said it best, you need to grow up and accept that you and you alone are responsible for your actions.

blaming others is a sign of a lack of maturity.

It's generally not speed by itself that kills.  Most of the time it's idiots driving recklessly (ie: weaving in and out of lanes).  There is a difference between driving recklessly fast and driving to the conditions.  If its a clear day, and the road is empty then yes you should be able to go 120-130.  If it's a wet cloudy day and there is a tonne of traffic you shouldn't go that fast.

I'm of the mindset that speed limits on provincial highways should be increased to the 120-130 range or just abolished all together.  95% of people will drive the speed that they are comfortable with and that other 5 will continue to drive dangerously no matter what - and that 5% includes everyone who refuses to drive with the flow of traffic.

Oh and it should be noted that I've seen more potentially dangerous drive caused by someone who was going 80 or 90 in a 100 zone while hugging the right hand lane, than i have idiots weaving in and out of traffic going 130.

You've got to go with the flow like they say in Young Drivers.

but the camera never lies.... also will you be willing to pay my 103 dollar ticket for me then????

Sheerin I do agree with you

As for everyone else, I do speed but i dont do it recklessly, unlike a people I know who do 170 up 82th street. I dont tolerate those people but its the honest people who always get nailed...

Sorry but I really don't agree with that. If there is an obstruction in traffic (such as a slow-moving car) you should be driving slow enough so that you can recognize the hazard and take steps to avoid it. The faster you go the less time you have to react.

Following the 2 second rule, how far do you think it takes a driver to stop from a speed of 130 Kmph?

Now how about the driver going 80 Kmph.

InGermany, where the speed limits are relaxed on the Autobahn the accidents are usually fatale (although there are less of them) Anyone who served there during the cold war can tell you stories of sports cars turning into jam on the back of a tank because they were driving too fast to recognize the hazard that a slow-moving convey of heavy equipment represented.

Germany also has a far better driver education program than we do.

I'm afraid you're not going to get much sympathy from me on this issue!

Someguyincanada,
I don't understand what you mean when you say " it's the honest people who get nailed" I have a hrd time believing that the police in our country are sitting around waiting for the so-called honest guy to come around so that they can bust his b*lls a little. If you are obeying the rules of the road you don't have to worry about an issue from the police and possible fines. If you aren't then it is a decision that you have made to break the law. It doesn't matter bt how much or how little if you are speeding in an area you are willifully breaking the law and the police are only doing their jobs in ticketing you. You can't possibly fault someone for doing their job correctly can you? If you don't want an issue with the police or a ticket then obey the laws it's quite simple really.

As for the issue of a little speeding won't cause accidents, I have to say it....Bullsh*it, I'm not saying that speed is the cause of all accidents but when you are speeding, evben if it is just a little you are increasing your risks. Slim made a few very key points in his posts it takes longer to stop the faster you go and your reaction times are that much slower due to the increase in speed. I have personaly seen and worked on people who have been victims of accidents due to speed and have also worked on the drivers. the patients that I have worked on were pretty hurtin' units and some of them were only going "a few over the limit" I have witnessed firsthand that speed does in fact kill, maim, and leave you broken twisted and bloody.

Don't moan and groan when you get a ticket for speeding( this isn't meant for anyone in particular) suck it up buttercup , you only have yourself to blame.
