University Student - Stuck as Ocdt?

Hello everyone,

I am currently a second year student in university, and I'm in the last step to joining as an Infantry Officer. I keep getting told by lots of people that I will earn my commission upon being MOC qualified / completed BMOQ regardless of whether or not I completed my degree or not while a student, as well as, I wont get my commission until I have my degree.

Does anyone have definitive answers? I know the Reserves are a weird though unique group so it may be hard!

The advice you have received thus far is essentially correct. With the exception of CFR and SRCP, all CAF officers are required to have completed an under graduate degree at a minimum, or have obtained other mandatory education depending on their intake occupation prior to commissioning. It is not unusual nor unfair to spend several years as an OCdt prior to obtaining one's commission.

There are other exceptions. In addition to CFR and SRCP, Reserve officers under RESO and Regular officers under CEOTP are not required to have degrees until they reach the rank of Major. DAOD 5002-8 and 5002-6 refer.

So, in short, it depends on your commissioning plan.
