Today's ABC's 4 AM news carried a segment on widespread loss of civililan jobs among US Reservists and Guardsmen serving in Iraq. Apparently job legislation is not "loop-hole" proof, notwithstanding all the claims voiced here in Canada that similar legislation here would solve some of our reserve recruiting problems.

Some of those losing their employment have been notified while still in-theatre, while others find out on their reporting back to work on their return.

I think this needs more discussion. Job Protection is a key issue for the Americans and especially for us. But you must remember that many American companies will not hire reservists even though they get a tax break, they still have to give the soldier his job back. Canada is run by business not by the government.
