A decorated Marine SGM was awarded the Medal of Honor 51 years later. Originally he had been given the Navy Cross sothe MoH was an upgrade.

I watched the ceremony. Apparently, he knew that there was attempts over the years to upgrade his original award and the SM stated not to bother as he was satisfied with the Navy Cross. The citation of his actions was inspiring.
