Hello folks,

I'm a civilian.  My father was in the Canadian air force for 25 years and my brother was in the Canadian Army.

While in the air force my father was given black leather winter gloves, with a thin wool lining.  They were fairly short - ending just above the wrist, in an open design - with no elastic at the wrists.

I was actually able to buy a pair years ago when I was in Cold Lake at the local base store.

I was wondering if it was possible to buy a few pairs of these leather gloves.

If anyone is able to buy them and ship them ...I'd cover all charges.

Thanks

Russ

I am not quite sure what you are referring to.

There are black dress uniform gloves, which are pretty ordinary and no different from civilian leather gloves.

Flying gloves are controlled issue. When I started flying in 1979 the were very high quality thin brown leather with either wool or rayon inserts. Because of the cost and reduced life span due to people wearing them for non-work related purposes, they were changed to olive green many years ago. Current ones are brown again, but leather palms with the rest being Nomex. The only liners available now are the woll ones, as rayon is a flame hazard.

Yes.  I am pretty sure these are std. issue gloves...not flying gloves.  But the leather was strong - not calve leather soft.  It's a thicker leather, short wristed glove, with a wool lining.  See the photo below of the original glove and the type of lining.
