Looks like WestJet will be reversing it's plans to make seats smaller in economy class, and re-fit the 21 aircraft it had already converted to the smaller seats.

WestJet will reverse cramped seat configuration after widespread backlash

Seems like it was a poorly thought out exercise by an airline that has completely lost it's way. They used Ryanair as an example of an airline they were emulating, conveniently forgetting that people excuse Ryanair's terrible seats because of the ultra-low fares. I just looked at a few flight examples and WestJet was across the board more expensive, or at least as expensive as Air Canada and Porter.

I saw a news program on it. It was ridiculous how close they had people bent and packed into the seat space. You'd be better off in the overhead luggage compartment.
Yeah, it seemed like a pretty poorly conceived idea from a person that hasn't ever actually flown economy.

When I looked up a flight to Victoria from Ottawa, there was a 4h 35min leg from Ottawa to Calgary. Who in their right mind would want to spend that long crammed into a seat too small for the average man? Particularly when Air Canada and Porter both offer more room, free beer, and free wifi.
