I am a student going into grade 12 and i am wondering what would be the difference if i took part time reserve over full time reserve when i graduate?

Is there a difference in training?
For part time, do i go like once a week for training?

Appreciate the help!  ;)

You dont join as a full-time reservist.

That should simplify your problem.

I think there's some confusion here over the process. People in the Reserves are "part time Soldiers/Sailors/Airmen." As I understand it (and I'm a civilian so this could be wrong), you go to your Armory once a week for "Parade" and to perform your job. Edit: And you may also go on the weekends.

However, you can't do your job until after your BMQ (Basic Military Qualification) and SQ (Soldier Qualification), also called "BMQ (Land.)" This training often happens in a block over the summers, as (I think) your Trades training.

Edit: After completing BMQ and SQ, you'll also need to complete your Trades training, which will vary in length depending obviously on the job you've picked, this can also happen in similar summer blocks.

Lebar, it's best for you to talk to a recruiter to receive the latest information regarding service in the Reserves.  There are different categories of Reserve service, some are for occasional service (Class A, up to 14 days a month) some for short periods of continuous service (Class B, or a combination known as Class B(A) for a specific "term") and some for provision of services equivalent to a Regular Force member (Class C).  As noted previously, you are probably thinking of Class A service, where the unit requires a certain level of committment (days) to 'parade', like the "once a week", "every XXXday", etc...  Also as noted, unless you are already trained for a particular occupation/trade, you would likely not be eligible for the continuous terms of Class B or Class C service.  The Recruiting Centre could provide the latest information.
