Ok...so i am making spagetti  right now and i cooked up some ground beef to put in my vodka sauce.  i have tried regular, lean, and now. extra lean and it seems to always be the same amount of fat.  Consiering extra-lean is more expensive, i feel cheated.  Anyone else notice this ?

Same for me, but I can cook it and drain off what ever fat an grease there is. Ironic, isn't it, Chef Baker?  :D

I drain it as well, i just figured extra-lean would have less leftover after cooking than the others....

Find a better butcher.

I live in Granola land.........Amazing there isnt a protest in front of the grocery store  ;D

I buy extra lean, and I have found it's a bit better than the others. But my local safeway seems to do a decent job.

It all tastes the same to me ;D. Ground beef is very versatile and I don't get sick of it after eating it several times in a row like chicken.

I would think the same thing too, I don't understand how you could gain any weight from eating grass and grain all of your short life as a cow  :dontpanic:

Rebecca

PS ~ As for when I do cook with it, I find draining it before adding it to anything does help.

As i previously stated, i already do that

I find with ground chicken or ground turkey it only taste good in very few things. My grandmother used to make sloppy joe's out of that ground turkey stuff........I have never really like it since.

My wife uses a plastic 'steamer' in the microwave to cook ground beef.  You would not believe the crud that is left in the bottom when you pull out the tray.  Also try cooking it normally, then putting the ground beef in a collander and running it under hot tap water.  You'll have a heart attack just looking at the junk you almost ate.

Health hint # 47:  Go Deer, Elk and Moose hunting.  MUCH better for you.
