I didn't want to distract from the congrats warranted for the latest medal and MID winners from AFG, but I'm scratching my head over this:

Why is the PM and Def Min congratulating the troops on the party web page:
http://www.conservative.ca/EN/1091/57415

instead of on the PM and DND sites, as they've done in the past, say, in honouring the fallen?

Any ideas out there?

Just a guess, but I figure that these are fairly significant achievements, and perhaps it is a personal effort on their part?

(Translation: I don't know.  But I figure it's better than this:

I also note that they sell conservative "stuff" on there, bags, etc.  I wonder what would happen if I bought something and sent it to Jack Layton for Christmas?  >:D

You're right on the "it's better than" part, and I'll be happy to chip in for the Layton gift!

Don't want to rain on the medal parade, but I've got a funny "Spidey Sense" making me uncomfortable, but I can't put my finger on it.....

Then again, they say even paranoids have real enemies  ;)

Librarian - On the PM page version I'm looking at from your link, the only 27 Oct 06 notices are about

1)  Prime Minister announces Government of Canada Fellows Program - "Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the launch of the Government of Canada Fellows Program to allow the exchange of senior executives in the public service of Canada with other sectors such as business, academia, not-for-profit organizations and other levels of government."

2)  PM challenges opposition to stop blocking change - "In a speech to the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, Prime Minister Stephen Harper today laid out the government’s agenda and called upon the opposition to stop blocking change.  “This is not what Canadians voted for and it’s not what Canadians want,” said the Prime Minister."

3)  Prime Minister Stephen Harper attends the opening of the Total Hockey Museum - 1:15 p.m. – "Prime Minister Stephen Harper will present Brian McFarlane, museum collection donor, with a commemorative letter.  The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his son Ben (10 yrs) and Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women, Beverley J. Oda."

Hmmmm.... the mystery continues....

I doubt it's a mystery.  I imagine that the gov't page is updated by a public servant, today is Friday, and they went home HOURS ago.  The conservative page is probably updated by a volunteer, who's single, lives with mom and dad, and has nothing better to do on a Friday

Hey, it could be! ;)

VG, you paint an interesting picture of the party's webmaster, indeed - unless he's LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER...   ;D

a few questions about the jpg. is it on line? if so it is not a legal petetion having just found out. All petetions must have a print block, signature block, address block including postal code ( all filled out in ink) and lastly a member of parliment to sponsor the bill in the house. all aforementioned. The last i would like to know so I make sure I do not vote for the person in the next election.

A van down by the river?  Bloody Luxury!  I had to live IN the river.....

(sorry, OT, but any Monty Python reference is well worth it)

VG - ...not to mention classier than an old Saturday Night Live-Chris Farley ref, no?

Yep, it's online.  Check my sig block below this message for the link ;)

I wasn't aware that petitions had to have all that.  Perhaps a nice, tidy email to the communist party NDP would be in order?  >:D

Done and done (as in, not done.  Read: no letters, nothing) ;D

Now,  for my next question, can I bring the attached photo to the nearest "Canada out of Afghanistan" rally?
