LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. -- Playing in the Masters might seem like a vacation compared to what Tiger Woods has planned after his week at Augusta National -- training with the Army.

Woods said Tuesday he will take part in four days of military training at Fort Bragg, N.C., before hosting a junior golf clinic April 16 at the army base.

Woods‘ father, Earl, was a Green Beret during the Vietnam War.

"It‘s an honor to walk in my father‘s footsteps by training with the service men and women at Fort Bragg," Woods said. "I have enormous respect for our armed forces and am thrilled this experience will include a junior golf clinic for these soldiers and their families."

Woods and Mark O‘Meara spent about two hours on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf two weeks ago when they played in the Dubai Desert Classic.

The Tiger Woods Foundation Junior Golf Clinic will feature personal golf instruction for 75 children of Fort Bragg soldiers.

The children will be selected from two local junior golf programs.

"Tiger‘s interest in exploring the military firsthand means a great deal to me, especially since he‘s chosen my former training ground," Earl Woods said.

Woods‘ foundation supports community-based programs that promote health, education and welfare for children.

The Masters, where Woods is a three-time champion, is April 8-11.
