Good photos. I visited that location during the 75th. The Uncle of four of our group was murdered there. Very emotional indeed.

If you were wondering about Cdn Officers with British Army units, they were CANLOAN.
Thank you for the PDF file.

This is the place where the Canadian soldiers were murdered by SS troops.

I have a question that is closely related to this: is there a list somewhere of Canadian soldiers still missing in action, presumed killed after POW or presumed murdered but missing from all of our 20th century wars?

Within the Directorate of History and Heritage in NDHQ there is a small team that work to identify remains that are uncovered.

Today was held the annual ceremony at the Abbaye d'Ardenne. A few Canadian officials and military were attending the event, delivering their speeches and saying prayers. A large number of wreaths were thereafter laid by French regional and local authorities.
Nous, Normands, n'oublions pas.

Thank you for posting this and for taking the time to remember all of them.
I was the first of our family in 2017 to visit fallen family members buried in the CDN War Cemetery, south of Caen, (twins, 20yrs old) killed on the 26th and 28th of August in Criquebeuf sur Seine. Knowing that others haven’t forgotten the men killed during the Normandy campaign is important for us here on this side of the Atlantic.
Merci.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write these updates and to commemorate our fallen. This has heartfelt meaning to many Canadian families. Thank you!

Bonjour,
I guess you're talking of Bretteville-sur-Laize which is one of the two main Canadian war cemeteries over here (along with Bény-sur-Mer which is North of Caen). It's also known under the name Cintheaux at times. Here are two photos I have taken there. If you like, I can send you new pics of your family members who are buried at Bretteville/Cintheaux.
Regards,
Jacques
