If this is a "We're hosting G7, and here's how we're spending Defence dollars" announcement, that makes sense.Toronto is our financial capital.![]()

Oh shitNo mention of the subs or hint of the final decision on the F35 question.
Looks like HIMARS will be announced, something related to either more LAV’s or a pivot to CV90’s.
I saw wording about Joint Support Ships, so maybe an additional 1, 2 or 3 announced.
Bombardier might be having some good news.
Did someone at Bombardier draw a picture of a Joint Support Ship?No mention of the subs or hint of the final decision on the F35 question.

15 Billion over 5 years into military pay, that's quite the rumour.
I have a very hard time seeing the Army procure CV-90 at this point, given the huge adoption of wheeled LAV platforms domestically. No mention of the subs or hint of the final decision on the F35 question.

If it shuts up the entitled whining about it I will certainly be partially pleased. There will be some upset people on these forums if that's true.
HIMARS seems an obvious choice, though I was under the impression that was already budgeted. When the F-35 talk started up there was talk of Lockheed offering more work to Canada to keep us on board which seems a win/win, though again it wouldn't be new spending. SHORAD, mortar and SPH LAVs plus there supporting ammo, OPV, CP vehicles seems an obvious and easy win even if they don't cut contracts for them yet.No mention of the subs or hint of the final decision on the F35 question.

Works out to about 5% per year for five years allegedly. There will be some upset people on these forums if that's true.
Maybe the PM read the article about how long it's been taking LUV and said enough is enough haha.Roshel is based in Toronto, might be something to do with them.
Turns out he's speaking at the Peter Munk building at U of T. Interesting choice of venues, can only assume that he's got some meeting on Bay St and/or with Dougie at Queen's Park, both.Roshel is based in Toronto, might be something to do with them.
The Munk School is one of the preeminent foreign policy schools on the continent. Makes sense to me.Turns out he's speaking at the Peter Munk building at U of T. Interesting choice of venues, can only assume that he's got some meeting on Bay St and/or with Dougie at Queen's Park, both.

It’s also expected that the Canadian Coast Guard, currently a civilian operating agency under the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, will be moved under the Department of National Defence. (The move would mirror the U.S. Coast Guard, which is a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.) The Canadian Coast Guard’s annual budget is about $2.5-billion, a small fraction of the Department of National Defence’s yearly spending, which exceeds $41-billion. It’s not clear whether moving the Coast Guard under the Canadian military would change it from a civilian fleet to a military fleet.
Looks like it is happening…This is going to go over like a lead balloon with the Coast Guard, their personnel are unionized civilians and loathe being pushed towards enforcement roles, let alone being lumped under DND and all that potentially entails.
The coast guard is NOT going to be happy about this. Will this mean that Irving will have to revert to the forces design to incorporate the deck guns once again? This is going to go over like a lead balloon with the Coast Guard, their personnel are unionized civilians and loathe being pushed towards enforcement roles, let alone being lumped under DND and all that potentially entails.
