Did Turkey need anyone's approval when it shot down a Russian fighter that crossed into its airspace? Why does Poland have to follow different rules than Turkey did?

The Russian plane, according to Wikipedia (yes I know a crappy source), says that the Russian plane went into Turkish airspace for a distance of 2.19km for a total duration of 17seconds. It was a total distance of 1,000 meters inside Turkey when it was shot down.

I suspect that Poland is more than ready to test the Russians on that and the Russians know it.

On the cusp of flu season, I'm getting a really bad vibe. Parents with sick kids and just people in general aren't going to really care what POTUS says if they can't find or afford something to manage a fever or any other of the various ailments that run rampant in the winter.

Inflation has fallen, though it remains high. Nevertheless, the country's latest woes are less of a surprise than it may seem. Despite initial market optimism following Milei's deep fiscal and institutional reforms in 2024, Argentina remains hostage to shifting investor sentiment because of its heavy reliance on the dollar. Its only way out of the current crisis might well depend on the willingness of the United States to help.
