Trump administration 2024-2028

Why would the Qatari AF need an Facility in Idaho?
A follow-up to my question above. Very long article on how much influence the Qatari's have in the United States:

For those wondering about how accurate the FreePress is rated folks over at Media Bias/Fact Check give them this:

  • Overall, we rate The Free Press as Right-Center biased due to its consistent criticism of left-leaning views, especially on cultural and social issues. We rate them Mixed for factual reporting because, while articles are generally well-sourced, the outlet often presents one-sided opinion pieces that lack counterarguments or broader contextual balance.
And I'm sure the US is not the only country they are spending money in!

Why would the Qatari AF need an Facility in Idaho?
Why would the Brits need a facility in Suffield, or the Germans one in Shilo (when they had such things)?

Then again, the look was quite different then, given UK or Germany didn't gift Canada a nice plane (and who knows what else) beforehand, either ....

The timing is suspect too. Hamas in Gaza has agreed to free prisoners and Qatar is big supporter of Hamas. Is ICE Barbie going to permit those foreigners on American soil? Is ICE Barbie also on Qatari payroll?

Closer ties and military cooperation between nations in that region and the US were unexceptional from approximately 2 Aug 1990 to 20 Jan 2025.

You’re being disingenuous. A middle eastern country being permitted to establish a base presence in the U.S. would have been remarkable and contentious in any of those years as well, even if it didn’t come hot on the heels of that country gifting the U.S. president a 747.

FWIW the UK has dumped us in favour of Omani training areas....

... can confirm the safety regulations there are more 'suitable' than Canada's for training soldiers for certain types of military activities ;)

He ran has a Republican because that was the party he was more likely to win the primary.
Sarcasm. See Obama, Prize, Nobel. He talked his way into an "award" for which most people have to produce a significant concrete single achievement or a lifetime of work.

For all the folks who keep endlessly defending Trump, would you wear this watch? The hypocrisy would be so funny it will be worth it, going around "owning the Libs" with a total turd made in China watch, sold directly by the patriotic make it in America president. Nothing weird about it! Totally normal dudes wear and support this stuff without seeing any hypocrisy!

Perhaps "totally normal dudes" sucked in by talk radio, podcasts, 24/7 cable news and internet political forums, memes etc. might find it fun to wear the bling and regalia to rallies. Dunno emoji.

The U.S./China trade war’s brewing up again. In response to further Chinese expert controls over Rare Earths, Trump has announced a 100% additional tariff on all Chinese imports. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/12/chi...riffs-ahead-of-possible-trump-xi-meeting.html

China continues to have the world by the balls on Rare Earths, and this is a huge strategic vulnerability of the west. They know it, and they know the west is slowly waking up, getting new projects going, and will eventually shake Chinese dominance, so I thinks they’re trying to make the most out of the last decade of control they’ll have over that sector.

The U.S. is basically forced into playing hardball on this. There’s no short term ‘throw money at the problem’ solution. A rapid imposition of 100% tariffs on Chinese imports will hurt American consumers and businesses, and the administration knows that, so they’re clearly skittish about the situation.

I am hearing rumblings that they may want to use Suffield more?

I recall the public word being that they felt the likely theatre they would face would middle eastern rather than forests and grasslands.

Operational readiness reasons, it seems:

British Army to relocate major training base to Oman

"If you only have 148 tanks and 22 of them are stuck in Canada, that's 22 tanks that are not at readiness and not available to do anything operational," one source told The Telegraph.

"If they are training in Poland or Duqm, the logic is that they are having a more operational and deterrent effect," they added.
