I talked to a couple of Canadian dealers about this. Firearms that were manufactured in and permanently exported from the US (e.g. exported for sale in an international market) cannot be permanently re-imported into the US without prior consent of the exporting nation and the US government.
Not to mention those not manufactured in the States have to meet certain criteria to be imported. Anything Russian or Chinese is off the table, most semi-autos would be too. Anti-tank rifles are out, etc.

Harpers camp fired shots at Soudas when he was forced to resign from his role as executive director of the Conservative Party back in 2014 as well.
Relevant to the GoC. The Government includes the Loyal Opposition, official parties in Parliament, and even groups without party status such as the NDP and Green Party.

He's been grumpy about how things work on Team Blue for a while - internal party boosters'll say he's right, internal party haters'll say he's a hypocrite.
True, but some of the old Harper carryover MP’s seem to have been muzzled under PP.
Very true - including the former leader who was publicly dinged for wishing an outgoing Liberal cabinet minister well - but right now, I suspect PP's pretty safe in the leadership race. Who's out there saying, "pick me," right? We'll see what happens between now and then.

Given how Pierre's team deals with internal issues like said former leader. I suspect any one with leadership aspirations would keep quiet to avoid a target on their back
