We have some very common ports in the US. Norfolk, Mayport, Hawaii... I wonder if this will affect that...

I went to Mexico this year. One of the flight options was through Newark. The wife and I decided NOT to go through the USA, direct flight to Mexico instead, but if we did I was fully prepared to buy a burner phone and leave mine at home.

And since there’s no way humans are able to rip through that stuff that fast, they’re probably going to be firing those selectors into analytics programs that have scraped social media.

I suppose the proposals defenders will advance the customary "we only intend to use it for X" argument, where "X" is usually some variation of Very Very Very Bad People.

I almost would like to see the regulation go ahead, just to see what the first administration after Trump's (or a Trump-like successor) would do. I think they'd be strangely comfortable with the new power. It would have the same flavour as the Obama administration's frantic attempts to turn off their drone assassination powers before handing over to Trump. "We use asserted presidential powers wisely."
