Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

Pretty sure everyone is cognizant of that. You also can't/won't stop two people getting together who want to do so. You can only minimize the impact.
You do it by holding people accountable. It’s not a hypothetical. It’s done elsewhere.
 
I have so many questions
-Is this going to be recorded as feedback notes?
-How much of a difference between seniority or position brings in the onus to report? If you have two members of the same rank in different units, but one unit is higher in the Order of Presidence?
-Are CO's going to get upset when they don't get wedding invites, considering how they may have had a required interest in the relationship from the beginning?
-Are Officer Cadets people?
 
As an outsider looking in, part of this confuses me. Since they use the conjunction 'or', any one adjective applies.

"that involve people of different:

  • rank, (makes sense)
  • seniority (perhaps, particularly if it is extreme; very senior vs very junior)
  • position (does this imply you can only be involved with somebody in the same trade or position spec?)
  • experience (how is anyone expected to interpret that?)


The root of the issue goes back to the hiring of both genders. As mentioned, 'people be people'.

We returned to barracks from a long FTX a couple of days early once, with no warning.

The Brigade Commander made it clear to the CO that he would never do that again.

Asking about positions and experience seems a bit intrusive.
 
I re-read the updated DAOD 5019-1.


The DAOD is not worded exactly the same way as the CBC article.
The thing that stood out to me is that idea that if it is discovered that you had a relationship with someone in the past that was not declared, you're assumed to be guilty of adversely hurting someone's career. So if 10 years ago you dated someone that was a lower rank, you are now assumed to be a pervert that abused authority, and are subject to investigation with the presumption you are guilty.

It's a bizarre minefield to set for the organization... Unless the goal is to destabilize the organization.

Where do you see in the DAOD that you have retroactively report your relationship history?
