1. THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE (RCAF) IS SEEKING CAF MEMBERS TO
BECOME PART OF THE INITIAL SECURITY FORCES OCCUPATION CADRE. SELECTED
MEMBERS WILL BE SUPPORTING THE MODERNIZATION OF THE RCAF WITH
ADVANCED AND 5TH GENERATION TECHNOLOGY WHICH DEMANDS A HIGHER LEVEL
OF SECURITY AND PROTECTION.

2. THIS IS A SPECIAL COMPULSORY OCCUPATION TRANSFER (COT-T) CALL OUT
AIMED AT REGULAR FORCE MEMBERS FROM ANY NCM OCCUPATION (CANSOF MOSIDS
EXCLUDED) AT THE RANK OF MS/MCPL TO CPO2/MWO WHO ARE INTERESTED IN
JOINING THE INITIAL LEADERSHIP CADRE OF THE RCAF SECURITY FORCES
OCCUPATION. INTERESTED MEMBERS WHO MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS
SPECIFIC CALL OUT SHOULD REFER TO PARA 8 BELOW.

3. SUCCESSFUL PRE-SELECTED COT-T APPLICANTS WILL RECEIVE A
PROVISIONAL COT-T OFFER IN SUMMER 2026 AND WILL REMAIN IN THEIR
CURRENT MOSID AND EMPLOYMENT UNTIL THEY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE
SECURITY FORCES OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONAL POINT (OFP) TRAINING. TRAINING
WILL BE CONDUCTED WITH THE USAF AND WILL BE OFFERED TO CANDIDATES AT
A RATE OF 10 CAF MEMBERS PER MONTH COMMENCING IN OCTOBER 2026. UPON
SUCCESSFUL OFP TRAINING COMPLETION MEMBERS WILL BE FORMALLY
TRANSFERRED TO THE SECURITY FORCES OCCUPATION UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF
COT-T POLICY, INCLUDING PAY AND RANK PROTECTION IAW REF B AND C.
NOTE: ANY MEMBERS SELECTED FROM THE MP OCCUPATION WILL BE COT PRIOR
TO TRAINING DUE TO IMPACT WITH CREDENTIALS.

4. INTERESTED APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA AND BE
AWARE AND PREPARED FOR THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
A. COMPONENT: REG F
B. RANK: MS/MCPL TO CPO2/MWO
C. MINIMUM LEVEL II (SECRET) OR HAVE PREVIOUSLY HELD A SECRET
SECURITY CLEARANCE OR HIGHER.
D. MEET INTERIM SECURITY FORCES ENTRY STANDARDS (REF D) CURRENTLY
PUBLISHED AT RCAF SECURITY FORCES OCCUPATION

E. MUST HOLD A VALID DND 404 DRIVERS LICENCE, PROVINCIAL OR

F. MINIMUM MEDICAL CATEGORY OF 3233255.
G. TRAINING TO OFP IS IN ENGLISH ONLY BASIC DEFENDER COURSE (BDC) IS
HELD IN SAN ANTONIO, TX WITH A DURATION OF 3 MONTHS. CANDIDATES
MUST HAVE A MINIMUM ENGLISH PROFICIENCY OF CBB TO BE SELECTED.
H. MUST HAVE A VALID FORCE EVALUATION. THE BDC WILL BE PHYSICALLY
DEMANDING AND CANDIDATES ARE EXPECTED TO MEET THE USAF PHYSICAL
FITNESS STANDARD.
I. MUST NOT BE UNDER AN OPEN MONITORING PERIOD FOR A REMEDIAL MEASURE
AT TIME OF SELECTION.
J. MEMBERS MUST BE CAPABLE OF OPERATING INDEPENDENTLY AND BE FLEXIBLE
TO CHANGING WORK DEMANDS. SECURITY FORCES OCCUPATION ENTAILS SHIFT
WORK.
K. THE SECURITY FORCES OCCUPATION BELONGS TO THE AIR ELEMENT IAW REF
E. SELECTED MEMBERS FROM OTHER ENVIRONMENTS WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO
THE RCAF UPON COT-T.
L. INITIAL EMPLOYMENT LOCATIONS ARE 4 WING COLD LAKE, AB AND 3 WING
BAGOTVILLE, QC. POSTINGS WILL OCCUR APS 2027.

Body composition chart as well. So basically the RCAF wants fit motivated people to join the new trade, and take some pretty meh postings, for free.

I've gotten to spend a bunch of time the last few years with the USAF and their security forces come in two types.

A) Aspiring future law enforcement who want to add experiance to their resume; and,

B) washouts from USAF Special Warfare pipelines of TACP, PJ, CCT.

The RAF Regt uses its specialities to recruit, and pushes those things hard. Come join us and do Dogs, JTAC, work with SOF etc.

What im saying is doing security guard work is no one's idea of fun and you have to lure people in somehow.

Not sure the total, but we won’t be using the USAF pipeline forever. At some point, some of the initial cadre getting trained this summer will become the schoolhouse for our own course. Probably sooner rather than later.

It is a pretty big deal setting up a new occupation, so I can see the attraction. Especially for someone who likes doing infantry type stuff, but maybe doesn’t want to do a Latvia tour every 2-3 years. Plus RCAF lifestyle.

Cold Lake and Bagotville will not be the only postings. Pretty quickly Greenwood, Comox, Trenton, Ottawa, North Bay, Edmonton (Intl), Winnipeg, Shearwater and Victoria will be added.

We'll agree to disagree. The set up of a new occupation probably isnt drawing in those MCpl / Sgts. I dont know how much infantry type stuff you'll get up to patrolling the cold lake flight line but hey I could be wrong.

Where in the CANFORGEN does it specify “infantry only”?

Don’t worry, I am certain nobody from any battalion will be willing to give this a shot. I mean, who would possibly give up the bright lights of Shilo or Petawawa for a posting to an RCAF base?

I can see lots of Bosuns maybe giving this a shot.

Just to clarify this VOT is not open only to Combat Arms. Its open to all NCM Occupations.

You mentioned "infantry type stuff" in your response. I didnt say infantry only once. I didn't mention infantry at all infact. You brought it up and are attempting to put words in my mouth.
