I confirmed this is real. Trump posted on Truth Social this morning that they’ll be bombing Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT”. More concerningly, he also stated an intent for the U.S. to seize Kharg Island and other oil facilities and to operate them for the U.S.’ benefit. Good way to get a bunch of Americans killed if he goes through with it, I guess. In actuality, I suspect the Kharg Island part is probably more limp bluster aimed at influencing attempts to restart negotiations.

IF Kharg Island is actually an objective that is a massive blunder of epic proportions.
You can say you will bomb, invade etc -- but if you give both a timeframe and a specific objective that is just letting the enemy plan a defense to maximize impact against us.

More a matter of he’s either talking completely out of his ass, or he actually presently intends to do something epically stupid that would get a bunch of U.S. troops killed (invading Kharg). If the latter, hopefully there’s a grown up in the room who can dissuade him.

there is a difference between coordinating with regional and allied governments/militaries and rage tweeting as he fills his diaper.
