Trump administration 2024-2028

The U.S. Army plans to phase out a drone unit that was studying and incorporating lessons from foreign wars, including the use of uncrewed systems in the Russia-Ukraine war, an Army official confirmed to The Hill on Thursday.

The infantry battalion, known as the Unmanned Assault Battalion, will participate at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center this month and next month in Germany. After the exercises, the battalion will “refocus on its core warfighting tasks as an airborne infantry battalion assigned to a Mobile Brigade Combat Team (Airborne),” the official said.

The unit is part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, a quick-reaction light infantry brigade team stationed in Vicenza, Italy. It was championed by former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George, who was ousted by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier this year.

The unit was also championed by Gen. Chris Donahue, the former commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, whose July removal by Hegseth divided Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

I figured this would happen.

Those drone soldiers just didn't have enough testosterone. Need to fight like men, eating drones to the face like a man.

I saw this and thought it was weird but I got to thinking about it and Im wondering they just decided to integrate the assets within existing battalions instead of a new organization wholly. We shall see.
The article literally said, an I quote, “refocus on its core warfighting tasks as an airborne infantry battalion assigned to a Mobile Brigade Combat Team (Airborne),”

None of that says they will continue to do work on learning the lessons of drone warfare.

I recognize that, that doesnt prevent them from integrating that at the unit level. Like I said, speculating.

Trump is skipping the 25th 9/11 anniversary at ground zero.

Because he won't be allowed to make a speech (which was disallowed specifically for politicians starting in 2012), and because he wants to go golfing in Ireland the following day.

JD Vance will instead be there along with Rudy Giuliani, the Clintons, President George W. Bush and his wife, and President Barack Obama.

But this isn't all that surprising.

I get ya.

Yes, I'm sure at the unit level, things will be done to ensure lessons learned are applied and trying to keep up with the cutting edge of drone warfare.

But I think its fair to admit these commanders will be effectively swimming upriver if Hegseth is on a warpath against fighting in a drone capacity and wants everyone to focus on traditional warfighting.

Speaking of Hegseth...

Not just in theory, the French refer to us Quebecois as "nos cousins Americains", i.e. "our American cousins". I am informed also that the Spanish refer to the Spanish spoken in central and South America as "American Spanish"
I’m always telling relatives in Italy that I’m “Canadese,” not “Americano” :)

I think the auditor general and PAO should be given a bit more spotlight by the media. So far (Even Carney's hired PAO) they have not shown favouritism and call it like it is. We need regular Canadians to clearly see what these agencies say, and they can make far more informed decisions.

On discipline, Doug Ford has completely embarrassed the nation and the province of Ontario with his antics.

If they are not political appointees neutered completely beyond the realms of professional objectivity, believe it or not, Deputy Ministers and their executive teams can do a great job of rationalizing and streamlining to save a ton of money.

If…

He believes the two term limit only applies to consecutive terms, which he has not done. So, in his mind, he can run again in 2028.
At the rate the polls are going, dems will sweep the mid terms. Not ebough for a 2/3 majority though which would really kill Trumps power. Enough though that they can reassert cobtrol over key areas like tariffs, and even iran
