Trump administration 2024-2028

Or, just hold them up to the standards of every other <insert> Primary </insert> reservist out there.
FTFY.

The other reserve components should all be held to the same standard as the Pres / RegF, despite holding vastly different roles and purposes.

Just dress them differently. Theyre babysitters and the only reason theyre in uniform is so the CSD applies. Put them in the same ODs as the kids.
Cut the commission out well we are at it. You can be under the CSD without being a officer.

Thinking about it is there really much benefit to having them under the CSD now considering the reforms done to the MPs and who prosecutes/charges people for certain offences?

If they arent under CSD certain things that legal civvie side but illegal mil side wouldnt be punishable. Insubordination, etc.

Civvy side that’s punishable, you just terminate the persons employment.

For example if I refuse to do what my boss tells me to do (as long as it is safe for me to do) even with my strong union my employer could fire me with cause instantly.

Before he resigned, Driscoll had a chat with POTUS directly.

Hegseth was the topic.

Trump was surprised when Driscoll told him how many generals and other top officers had been fired, pushed out, or passed over for promotion under Hegseth, one of the people said. Driscoll argued that the Army could not transform itself the way it needs to, because of the departure of so many leaders, this person said, adding that Trump expressed concern about the deep cuts to the Army’s senior leadership. Driscoll informed the president of his intention to resign—and by today, Driscoll was on his way out.

Not a good sign to lose a Secretary Of the Army to resignation in the middle of a war…
It's not much of an army war except air defence. However, Transformation-in-contact is a really big deal if the army wants to sort itself out for future wars. It's in mid stride and needs a lot of vision and leadership from the top if it wants to cross the finish line any day soon.

🍻

Imagine being "secretary of war" and, failing to be able to prosecute and win wars, you need to compensate for your inadequacies by mocking a kids' summer camp in another country. It must take a big man to pick on a girl.

I'm not surprised in the least to see that post from him - beating people up on social media let seems like the only fight he can handle.

On a side note, maybe it's time to give our CIC officers their own distinct uniforms.
Or just don't issue them the new uniform. The number of times I have seen them walking around not wearing the uniforms properly because there was no one of a high enough rank to tell them to fix themselves.

Probably the one that annoys me the most is them wearing the CD unmounted. One of my guys showed up to parade once like that and got ripped a new one. I understand that it's not all CIC officers, but it's pretty hard to take some of them seriously when they can't be bother to follow the dress regs or enforce them for their cadets.

That's a great point. Sexual harassment and assault, and suicidal ideation, seems like (some of) the biggest issues when dealing with cadets.

MPs have to pass off any sexual related offences to civiian police and they aren't written into the mental health act so they can't form anyone, let alone children, when it comes to self harm.

Not saying it is or isn't a good thing, just questioning why we do stuff and if it is still a valid reason today.

Teachers deal with children daily yet have no requirement for the CSD. Scout leaders, priests, youth group leaders, etc. all deal with children and again no requirement for the CSD. You can argue that all those groups listed have had issues with predators which is true, however so has Cadets even with the CSD.

Any actual issue that may arise is likely best dealt with by the civilian police and civilian powers, I personally don't see any particular reason why CIC officers needs to be uniformed when all our civilian laws are sufficient to deal with any sort of criminality they may engage in. If I am completely wrong on this I would like to know why.

Shades of the Soviet Union a la 1937?

"Trump was surprised when Driscoll told him how many generals and other top officers had been fired, pushed out, or passed over for promotion under Hegseth, one of the people said. The Great Purge or Great Terror was a political purge in the Soviet Union from 1936 to 1938.

The purges were eventually expanded to the Red Army high command, which had a disastrous effect on the military, including Marshal of the Soviet Union Mikhail Tukhachevsky.

he purge of the Red Army and Military Maritime Fleet removed three of five marshals (then equivalent to four-star generals), 13 of 15 army commanders (equivalent to three-star generals), eight of nine admirals (the purge fell heavily on the Navy, who were suspected of exploiting opportunities for foreign contacts), 50 of 57 army corps commanders, 154 out of 186 division commanders, all 16 army commissars, and 25 of 28 army corps commissars. It was first thought that 25 to 50 percent of Red Army officers had been purged, but the true figure is 3.7 to 7.7 percent. The discrepancy resulted from a systematic underestimation of the true size of the Red Army officer corps, and it was overlooked that most of those purged were merely expelled from the party; thirty percent of the officers purged from 1937 to 1939 were allowed to return to service.

I don't think that they need to be completely removed from the CAF. I don't think we would want a unionized CIC. I have suggested before that we create a new rank category for them similar (but different form) warrant officers in the United States. Have them have their own isolated rank structure. Give them enough authority to allow them to do their job, but don't give them authority over other CAF members.

Maybe Pete should get his own house in order before throwing stones from a glass house. Over 70% of the active US military is classified as over weight or obese.

DND actually has several studies on the subject posted including the affects of sleep deprivation on weight.

Careful someone may call you on your sources.

Based on CDC data it is actually 19% the ‘author’ of the 70% study Courtney Manning
Didn’t seem to actually know how, or care to filter data.
The 70% number came from the CDC data that said 70% young Americans are not eligible to join the military - either due to Obesity, Mental Deficiency, or Criminal Behaviors/Drug usage.
But a lot of folks sure parroted the number with no fact checking at all.

I wasnt referring to the CDC report but the APP report. The US military has a fitness problem. Im not saying we dont have issues but if we are going to throw stones, be prepared for some to be thrown back

The ASP Report was by the author I mentioned above. No one went back and checked that they used the CDC data but instead of understanding what it meant, took it to mean that that it was service members being obese at that rate - not upcoming American youth.
