Trump administration 2024-2028

Well now Trump thinks he is a currency expert. Oh boy this is going to go badly for the US dollar I think

Oh this should be good. Someone must have told him our currency value favours exports from Canada and is likely a factor in some business relocating here to retain access to world export markets. Does he not realize the best driver of our currency appreciating is a resource boom, to a large extent with the U.S. as a buyer? Not sure that jives with his trade deficit threats.

Actually, I find them closer to these uniforms, of the Galactic Empire:

Who knew that two evil empires could have similar uniforms?

So... he wants to make stuff more affordable in Canada, and the price of everything in the US to skyrocket?

Not sure how this is going to fix his other "grievances" with us, because this will just make those even worse.
The US has a number of levers they could pull. The nuclear option would be announcing the cancelation of the US-Canada Tax Convention. All hypothetical of course but it would absolutely screw over all our pension plans and the boomers who invest heavily in the US stock market. It would also screw the US a bit but would hammer us way more.

US dollar has actually decreased in value 10% since Trump took office. This helps American exports and manufacturing which is a stated aim of this administration.

Given our trade relationship though, dollar parity would hurt the US more then it would hurt us. it would actually cost them about 156 billion more to trade with us. if you take off fees, tax etc, thats about 130ish billion more going into our economy to our benefit.

It would benefit some sectors. It would absolutely crush others, including manufacturing and heavy industry leading to a loss of jobs, loss of corporate profits and lower exports.

Vacations to Florida would be cheaper though!
