The US debt has doubled every 9yrs from 10$ trillion in 2008 to 20$ trillion in 2017 to its present day value of 40$ trillion in 2026. They have made zero effects to reign in their financing costs and are on track for it to be 80$ trillion by 2035. They now pay 1$ trillion a yr in interest payments alone.

A major reason why they no longer are rated 'AAA' in the bond market.

Even with all the 'DOGE' cuts (like reducing the PS by 9%), US Federal spending continues to rise.

I think that is what may end up with the auto sector. A going back to the 'old days' of the 1965 Auto Pact. A US company must produce a vehicle in Canada in order for a vehicle to be allowed into Canada duty free.

I think either myself or another member posted an article about companies doing exactly that late last week. I remember one example of a company that sells high end ski gear, and another that makes tech for wildlife monitoring.

In my business, this would meet the definition of "confabulation".

A memory error where the brain unconsciously creates false, distorted or fabricated information to fill missing memory gaps without any intent to deceive.

It is a hallmark of frontal lobe dementia. Of course he could be JFN, or a lying sack of feces, but I favour dementia as the culprit.

My mother-in-law is suffering from dementia. In just about a year, she has lost the ability to hold or maintain a conversation. Most of the time, she sits quietly and appears very confused.

Every so often, she no longer recognizes where she is and insists that she needs to be taken home. The evenings are the most difficult.

Sundowning is very real.

First - I’m very sorry to hear this. We’ve gone through it with my father in law, my great aunt and with my brothers father in law.

The evenings can be the worst. We found that sometimes giving them ‘jobs’ in the evenings could redirect them. Folding a basket of towels and sheets was job that we would give my father in law and great aunt.
Bring out the basket and ask them to help fold them. Often enough that basket of towels was brought out 4, 8, 10 times during an evening. Brought into the next room all folded, then dumped on the bed or table, messed up and put back into the basket and brought back out. We would get them to talk about things in the past when they were younger while folding the towels. We learned many new things about old family members, a lot good, some unexpected.
For my 102yr great aunt, packing a suitcase worked a lot for her. She was always packing for a train she had to take the next morning to start a new nursing job. Interesting thing was that she wasn’t a nurse and had no medical training at all.

I'd never been exposed to dementia before, so it's been quite eye-opening. It's a terrible affliction.

It's interesting to see where her mind goes and how she interprets things on the rare occasions she's engaged now. I think she often reverts to a teenage version of herself.

They were at our house last night when I got home from rugby. My wife had dinner warming for me, and when I pulled it out, I asked my mother-in-law if she'd made it because I always loved her cooking. She giggled and said she didn't remember.

Its been very hard on my FIL. We have 21 full days booked to hunt together this fall, I know he loves the break.
