I've read Turtledove. I used to really like his work but then he got pretty repetitive (IMO).

His cosplay as the Pirate King was not received as a good-humored takeoff from a Gilbert and Sullivan opera. He went on. “So many people in the room I hate,” he said in a display of honesty. “Most of you I like,” he claimed. Then, at his peak euphoria, he flew off to Mar-a-Lago to plan his attack on Iran, which took place 27 days later.
 
More and more the whole scenario is looking like an extract from Rohmer's Separation and the oil business and pipelines (including the British economy) like Separation Two. Was he prescient?

Some people won't want to fight, or at least not force-on-force, but that applies to any war in which Canada has been involved and pretty much every country has the same problem.

Simply interrupting all southbound critical flows in ways which cannot be quickly restored can be done without force-on-force engagement.

Acknowledging that a (preposterously unlikely) hypothetical would be conventionally asymmetric and therefore require an unconventionally asymmetric response shouldn't be controversial.
