Enbridge remains a publicly traded company with North America’s largest pipeline network. It owns its Enbridge Gas subsidiary that mostly does natural gas distribution to customers.
Under current business models there’s no evidentiary basis to suspect that Enbridge being involved in major natural gas projects is some sort of way to feed wealth to Brookfield, to enrich PM Carney, or anything along those lines. Enbridge is simply one of the biggest players in that space and is a natural choice to partner with for new pipelines.
