I care.
My question is though, do all cars today send any data back 'home'. Tesla's send data 100% back to home. Do other cars?
I know that the root of the issue is, its China, but this sort of stuff is similar and just as important, as the whole 'data sovereignty' issue about where 'Canadian' data is held and where its sent. From banking info to tax information to market research info on shopping habits to driving habits. Does this data stay in Canada and is it controlled/owned by a Canadian owned entity, answering only to Canadian legislation?
Are we ok with all driving data and such for Tesla's going back to the US? Are we ok with all the driving data for Hyundai's going back to SK? For all Toyota's going back to Japan? Do we need 2 sets of rules? One for China and another for all other countries? Or do we need 1 set of rules that is applied evenly across all countries? What about Tesla's that are made in China? How are we certain that data is not going back to both China and the US?
