    BMQ - St. Jean - March 2011

I've been to disease-ridden countries before and left unscathed. I've also been a teacher for three years which involved lots of snot/puke/crap/piss/sneezing and I only got sick once missing only two days of class in that time. It all depends on the hygiene of your fellow platoon mates... some...

    BMQ - St. Jean - March 2011

Squeeze say, 1500-2000 people from all over Canada who bring the germs from their corners of the planet, into small quarters where all 1500-2000 people share the same kitchen, bathrooms, classrooms, door handles... hand rails... smoking areas... water fountains... and then you get a few idiots...

What's the food like on course? (BMQ, DP, ect...) [Merged]

Well Kiltman, half of the food here contains Onions. We have this debate at least a few times a week about the necessity of putting (what seems like) an entire onion on the pizza... or at least half of the food that is prepped. You won't starve to death though, there'll be a ton of other food...

    Putting on weight

If you have lactose issues, try the soy milk. It isn't as healthy as it sounds and... get the chocolate flavour! (tastes better and has a few more calories)....  Plus, it's some extra protein which I imagine is kind of what you're looking for at the moment.

    Petawawa Thread- Merged

Anny, I went to the employment seminar that the PMFRC gives to the spouses when they arrive. Essentially they said it'd take up to two years before a spouse will gain employment in the area, unless you are in the healthcare field. I thought it was a load of crap. But, essentially? It's true. I...

    Petawawa Thread- Merged

A lot of the older homes in Deep River are actually recycled military housing from Nobel, from when the nuclear reactor was first built. Those will be the 'oldest' houses. As the reactor was nearing completion, the management then built their own homes (around early 1960's) .... and then you'll...

    Petawawa Thread- Merged

When we were posted to Pet in 2006, we were shown about 20 homes in Pet and Pembroke. Their prices were very high for the quality of home we were getting and the size. I asked to check out a house in Chalk River. The real-estate agent was VERY reluctant but eventually gave in. For $127k, we got...

    Training the core

She had no problem lifting a 250 pound person in front of my very own eyes... by herself and with ease.  I'll take her word she can do a 350 pound dude! She had no problem doing reverse push-ups on a pull-up bar... but, could not to save her life, do a push-up.

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

I hear you on that one! I am now well-stocked on the anti-cold crap... I swear I've had about 10 colds since I got there in August ... and I was a teacher in a previous life! We're supposed to be immune to this kind of thing!

    Training the core

AMEN!!!  I recently saw a woman with 25 years of nursing experience have to leave basic because she couldn't do push-ups. She could however, lift a 350 pound man off the floor who has fallen out of a bed....
