I'm not so sure it is great news. If he was tried and acquitted there would be precedent set. Now they can avoid precedent and next time when there is less media attention they will be more likely to get a conviction.

That may be true now, however growing up in PEI in the 90's I knew quite a few people whose parents and/or grandparents didn't speak or understand english.
