1st....does anyone know if it's made of wool or acrylic?
2nd...i've been trying google but only found 1 sources o far. Anyone know where a civvy can pick one up?
I'm looking to get some feedback on down vs synthetic sleeping bags. A lot of hikers seem to fear down sleeping bags because of the chance they might get damp or wet. However, I was wondering if you guys in the military who have used and abused the CDN issue sleeping bag ever experienced...
Exactly. I never let any part of the shirt touch my skin. The new zip neck baselayers like merino or capilene and the wool field shirt over top work fantastic together and avoids the chafing issue. Much hardier and windproof than the fleeces too. I just really like the color too and how the wool...
Anyone here actually prefer the old wool field shirt to the newer fleeces? I love them and still wish they were issued. Wonder why they got rid of a great piece of kit.
Ghost778,
Did you pay $75 per boot to put on those Vibrams? Or, did you pay $75 per pair of boots? What kind of Vibram sole do you ask for? Those things look better than the Danners. I always liked the rugged uppers of the MK III's.
I too am looking at either the Timex Ironman or Casio G-Shock. Interesting, most people here are touting the Timex, while most of the American guys seem to prefer the Casio G-Shocks.
As for the Timex, i think i'd go with something like this...
Tilley's do look like a great hat. I was also thinking of a Fislon bush hat.

Even though Tilley's are crazy expensive, it would be good to give some Canuck folks some business.
I had a couple of questions about hats. 1) What are those blue hats that the peacekeeper troops are wearing on the homepage of army.ca? 2) What style of hat do you guys like most for double duty (sun and rain)? It seems that the British DPM bush hats seem to be a cross between a bucket hat and a...
Just curious to know what makes the Vibram's so much better than the Grebb's? I have the MK III's as well as expensive work boots with the Vibram lug sole, they are both hard as a rock. Or is that you guys like the Vibrams with no visible heel, the ones that are completely flat soled?
Yeah I have used the search function, but from what i've read nobody has really mentioned how the goretex breathes when it layered underneath a soaked combat shirt......unless i missed something.
I had a question on the effectivess of these Stealth Suits for those who have used them. I was wondering why you wear them under your other combat gear which wets out, doesn't that defeat the purpose of wearing Goretex? I wouldn't think that it would be able to breathe when the outer shirt is...
Gotta disagree on the multicam. I read an article where the U.S. tested the pattern, but it was Marpat thta came out ontop. Plus, you can tell the photos were pretty biased in favor of the Multicam (i.e. no bright or dark green vegetation). Sure it might work well in desert, afghan type areas. I...
