Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

No, I was 6.

Bingo! And my municipal councilors blame the Province for just about everything.

Its the art of deflection.

Lol, I was 16 and I tried to get my parents to split the cost of buying one of them for my first car. For my ethnic Polish Mum buying a car from a Communist country in 1985/86 was a hard 'No'.

My guy!

We do have to clean up these recall issues. Ford could do with better QA.
They all could. My next door neighbour's Silverado 6.2 V8 just grenaded itself. He needs an new engine and thought it would be a fairly quick turnaround but they've got almost 3/4 million engines to deal with.

Hoping that this translates into a lot of CDN steel going into the River’s, 2nd JSS, the Polar CCG ships and the future CDC’s.
Not sure there are Canadian producers for some of the grades, so some of it may be just resellers vs actual Canadian production.

With the tariffs impacting exports, the remaining Canadian producers may start relooking at specialty steels again, but depending on the quantity required may not make financial sense.

I think there is too much ill will both sides for that to work, but it would be ideal.
I think PP has also staked his fundamental existence on being inherently anti LPC so there is no path for him to actually be a reasonable human being to get things done with collaboration.

So far Carney is lifting enough from their platforms with modifications that I think he may work with them where there is common ground, with some howls of dissaproval from a lot of the party.

I just with HoC would behave like adults for a change and get stuff done.

One of the biggest screw ups in their history, I believe...

GM used slightly cheaper main bearings on the 6.2. Turns out there's a reason those were cheaper.

Interesting take from someone I was speaking with.

Reading between the lines of this approach may mean that CUSMA may be sunk. It could be that there is just no negotiating possible.

This may be some of the prep steps.

be an interesting investigation: A) who was the bearing supplier B) identifying the source of the steel, American or off-shore import, Be embarrassing for Trump if it proved to be made in U.S. with U.S. metal but on the other-had if it was sourced off-shore we will never hear the end of it from the MAGA crowd

The neo-Marshall Plan? We'll see I guess...

Carney unveils billions in funding, Buy Canadian policy to combat Trump's tariffs

New measures are 1st signs of industrial strategy government says will transform economy

Prime Minister Mark Carney rolled out a series of measures on Friday that he says will transform Canada's economy into a force that can withstand the trade shocks of the Trump administration.

The measures announced in the strategy have been targeted to specifically help workers and businesses that have been most impacted by U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs and trade disruptions.

"If you look back over our country's history, we have turned challenges into opportunities," Carney said in Mississauga, Ont. "And now, at this moment of profound change, we bear the same responsibilities and we should have the same ambitions as those who came before us."

"We know we need to act now. Invest now. Precisely when it's hard," he added. "We are charting an economic strategy to move Canada from reliance to resilience, from uncertainty to prosperity."

A noteworthy part of the plan is to pause the electric vehicle (EV) mandate, a demand by the auto industry. The strategy waives the mandate for the 2026 model year and launches a 60-day review of the policy.

I’m not of the belief.
RBC isn’t as well, ;)

(3) If the LPC is just going to flip flop to which ever way the populace is leaning; and be principled on nothing can we now call them a populist party ?

I’m not sure about “populist”, but it is the LPC’s MO to be ideologically flexible/unprinipled. Sometimes it takes a new leader to flip the switch.

While the EV target may be getting scrapped, bringing in more affordable EV's might also be part of the play. Could BYD and others be coming to Canada soon, and if so will they be built here too?

Somehow I don’t think the domestic auto makers or the US would let us do that here.
