English referendum to join the USA

Don't they realize they will have to put a fence around their village, otherwise all the Mexicans and other Central/South Americans will enter the US there.

I stumbled across this curious little story and video.

What next? Passport to Pimlico? The Mouse That Roared? I’d almost think that Ealing Studios had been resurrected.

Piddington? Ahh, I remember it because it sounded like a place where you went to have a piss. Incredibly, the CAF almost had a base there. Well, not really. Near forty years ago, following the 1987 Defence White Paper, one of the projects we looked at that fell under ALMS (ACE Logistics and Medical Support) was a contingency hospital to be warehoused in the UK. The USAF already had a 500 bed contingency hospital at RAF Bicester (just a few miles NW of this site) and we visited it as a brief stop-over during one of our trips to Germany for the Lahr hospital construction project. While there, we were shown a few possible sites that could meet the need and that were excess to MOD's requirements, including a couple of buildings at the Piddington Depot. All those pie in the sky plans were binned when we won the Cold War.

The Piddington Depot is circled Green, the village in Red. The Yellow, that's HM Prison Bullington (back in the late 80s, before the prison was built, that space was also part of MOD Bicester).

If at first you don't succeed, try again - 22 years later.

This isn't the first time that the UK government wanted to house asylum seekers at that site.

(from 12 Mar 2004)

Not to think that they only objected to asylum seekers, but they didn't particularly want Gypsies or Travelers parking in the neighbourhood.

. . . The Mouse That Roared? I’d almost think that Ealing Studios had been resurrected.

But now, anybody with access to AI (which is just about everybody) can now put out sophisticated campaign material.
