French Soldiers Shot in Public Areas

Heard on the radio that one of the weapons in the school shootings, a .45, was linked positively with the shootings of the paratroopers. Looking for a printed or online source to back it up. Shooting soldiers, albeit unarmed, is one thing.....shooting a 4 year old........... Wook

Exported Trg - Running CTC Crses at Bdes (From: Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat)

My turn to be oversimplistic I think. CFLAWC can export their courses a bit easier because all they really need is an aircraft (of various types), a DZ, and relatively few instructors that can easily (usually) be pulled from the units. I can see one of the larger dog-fights with exporting...

But it's higher than that. LFDTS, being a Command, does not want to be less than that and will fight tooth and nail anything that might be perceived to errode their authority. They are  Doctrine and Training afterall, they do not want to risk loosing the T portion. Wook

    Looking at DEO LOG,

d, Also be aware that the Log Branch is now green, we are only accepting those with "ideal" degrees. I have a list, but our Q drives crashed yesterday and we are still feeling the effects. As soon as I can get into my drives, I will post it. Wook

"It seems that the while the film has a viral power never seen before in the online community..." Really? I'm pretty sure the dancing baby beat it. Just like the OWS, this internet-fueled rage will only last as long as their collective attention span. Wook

CF member as a single parent-on course, deployed ect... [MERGED]

Brihard's and Aviator's posts are both good and give you some idea of what to expect and what is required. I have had a few single parents work with me/for me over the years. It is never easy, some are not able to handle it for long given the tempo we sometimes have in field units, but others...

Academic and Civilian Standing for Officer Application + Application Timing

I must quote my fine friend Glen, who is a dentist that I was lucky enough to go through IAP (BMOQ, Part 1 now?) with a few years ago. "I'm not just a dentist.....I'm an Army dentist!" he said with the butt of his C-7 resting on his hip, finger OFF the trigger and a shit-eating grin on his face...

Gotta start every job from the bottom. What is the bottom?

As a Veh Tech, like Engineer, you will be in training for the most part. Apprentice training (we call it Developmental Period 1: DP1) is about 4months +. It changes every once and awhile but that's pretty close. Tack that on to Basic and Soldier Qualification that will be a year or more. Once...

Veterans Review and Appeal Bd: pressure to reject claims, spying, junkets (MERGED)

I have heard similar stories from more than a few people. I have yet to end up in front of the VRAB (2 in the works lol), but i have been working with the BPA for some time now and I am impressed with them (for the most part). I think I like the BPA because it is all based on what the lawyer...

    Between training

Yes, you can work full time (meaning 0730-1630 type job). HOWEVER, the full time contracts are getting more rare with the fiscal realities coming down range. They would be even more rare for someone not fully trained. In short, there is no guarantee of full time employment in the PRes (as...

    Which Cap Badge to wear?

I went the other way, from EME to Log when I commissioned. I was told to switch my capbadge when my rank was changed (as were all the other UT's that I went through the next 3 years of courses with until I was trades qualified). Wook

    Help put me at peace!

Same goes with a helmet. There are options, as I understand it, for smaller hair coverings that work better under helmets (keeps things somewhat warmer in the cooler months as well from what I was told). I had the "pleasure" of facing off against friend of mine during some pugel stick...

    Stinky's gone, but not forgotten

The service dogs are amazing, can have such an impact on QOL for the right person. It's not for everyone, but the differences these animals can make......can't even really describe it sorry. :salute: Thanks Stinky and all your furry friends (and my own little tatonka of a therapy dog lol) Wook
